CASE #2

DISCUSS OPTIONS FOR RECOGNITION OF FEDERAL CARTRIDGE'S
(PENTAIR) DONATION OF CENTRAL PARK
by: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Coordinator

Background:

The Commission and a good portion of our residents are aware of Central Park's origins
and all appreciate and acknowledge its immeasurable value to the community, but park
users not in~,olVed or around in the early '80's may not be cognizant of Federal Cartridge's
gift.

At the August 27, 1991 Budget Committee meeting during the Park and Recreation
CommissiOn's 1992 Capital Improvement request, City Administrator Ryan Schroeder
asked whati'sort of recognition Federal Cartridge received for their donation of 45 acres to
the City. This seems to be a very pertinent question especially when considering the
potential importance of Federal Cartridge's 35 acres directly east of Central Park.

The Commission may wish to discuss options such as a plaque, sign, dedication and/or
recognition at the Ramsey Lion's Annual Community Picnic, possibly with special
invitations, or ..... ?

Commission Action:

Based on discussion.

Review Checklist:

City Administrator
City Engineer
Finance Officer
Budget Committee
Parks/Utilities Coordinator

P&R: 09/12/91
