MEMORANDUM

TO:

FROM:

DATE:

SUBJECT:

Mark S. Banwart, Community Development Director
Merland Otto, Landscape Architect

Bruce F. Bacon, Environmental Specialist

March 30, 1990

Wood Pond Hills P.U.D.

On March 21, 1990 Joan Spence and I went to the proposed addition.

The ridgeline north half is mostly white or Burr oaks, with a narrow zone of red oak saplings
toward the field edge, and a lot of Juniper Red cedar trees.

The southern part has many mom red oaks. By Ouflot C them are about 100 dead trees fallen over,
most of them 'are red oaks. I looked back at roadside maps. The 1986 map shows oak wilt
symptoms in this area. Those trees died and roots rotted and they've blown over one on the other.

This would need to be looked at in May when the oak leaves open up. Drought may have further
Idlled additional trees; again we need to look for new leaves for a more accurate survey of disease
and drought impact.

BFB/jmt

cc: P.U.D.
