Riverbank — ACD conducts riverbank condition inventories under contract with local <br />and state partners. Inventories combine erosion length, bank height, and estimates of <br />lateral recession rates to calculate annual soil loss. These data are used to seek <br />funding and rank projects for technical and financial assistance. In 2012 ACD staff <br />completed an inventory of riverbank condition on an eight mile stretch of the Mississippi <br />River upstream of the Coon Rapids Dam. The inventory identified 8 sites totaling 3600 <br />linear feet that were categorized as severely to very severely eroding.
