The property is adjacent to the
Rum River and is within the Scenic River Land Use District and therefore, in addition to the
general standards for detached accessory buildings, is also subject to the standards found in City
Code Section 117-256 (District Provisions) related to the Scenic River Land Use District. Staff
reviewed the request in detail with the Commission and recommended approval of the request for
a variance to deviate from the required setback from the OHWM of the Rum River.
Citizen Input
Gary Steinke, 15825 Juniper Ridge Drive, explained the garage would be used to store his boat.
He indicated the garage would be well built and would compliment the neighborhood.
Motion by Commissioner VanScoy, seconded by Commissioner Maul, to close the public
hearing.
Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Levine, Commissioners VanScoy, Maul, Bauer, and
Nosan. Voting No: None. Absent: Brauer.
Planning Commission/October 9, 2014
