Y <br />Our Uisiion: To work tngeth*F to resposihiy grow our community. and to provide quality, cost -oiFecrlve, and eiliclent gowemm*nt services. <br />Canvassing Board <br />Meeting Date: 11/12/2014 <br />By: Jo Thieling, Administrative Services <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Declare the Results of the November 4, 2014 General Election <br />Purpose /Background: <br />Purpose: The purpose of this case is to accept and declare the results of the City's General Election. <br />4.1. <br />Background: As per State Statutes, the City Council must serve as a Canvassing Board to accept and declare the <br />results of a local election. The General Election was held on Tuesday, November 4, and the City's eight polling <br />places were open for voting from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The residents also had the opportunity to vote absentee if <br />they chose, either at Ramsey City Hall, at Anoka County Elections Department, or by mail. The total number of <br />registered voters in the City as of 7:00 a.m. on Election Day was 14,638. Persons registering on Election Day or <br />during the process of their absentee voting equaled 492. The number of Ramsey residents voting absentee, either by <br />mail or in person totaled 681. The total number of Ramsey residents voting in the election was 8,416, for an <br />approximate 58 percent turnout which was just under the average across the County of 59 percent. Attached to this <br />report is a summary of the totals for the City of Ramsey General Election which local seats included at Large <br />Council, Ward 1 and Ward 3 Council.
