2. Roadway costs for County road improvement projects shall not be <br />assessed. Utility improvements (such as sanitary sewer, water main and <br />storm sewer, if the storm sewer cost exceeds M.S.A. funding) shall be <br />assessed to the benefitting properties. The City Council has the <br />discretion to defer these assessments. Refer to the Deferred <br />Assessments Section. <br />Improvements to Existing Gravel Roads <br />All properties benefittino from improvements to existing gravel roads <br />shall pay aproportionate share of the cost of the improvement per this policy. The <br />City Council has approved the improvement assessment such that 50% of the <br />Drolect cost to be assessed as identified under Methods of Assessment if certain <br />criteria is met. If aPproved. the remainder of the costs shall be funded by the Citv's <br />Road & Bridge Fund. <br />After a Petition is received from the benefitting properties the City Council <br />will determine if a 50/50 cost share for such improvements shall be approved based <br />on the following criteria: <br />• Role street serves to the surrounding area/community. <br />• Budget impact to the Road & Bridge Fund. <br />• No more than one mile of improvement for any given year. <br />• Other similar projects are planned in the general vicinity of such <br />Proiect for that construction season. <br />-14- <br />
