Page 6 Special Assessments Policy <br />including parks, water towers, wells and lift stations would pay 100 percent <br />residential street cost. Apartments, condominiums and town homes would also pay <br />100 percent of residential street cost. Industrial/commercial properties and churches, <br />schools, libraries and City Hall would pay 100 percent of actual MSA or County <br />road up to 42 foot width. <br />Determination of classification of property is based on the City Land Use Map. <br />III. SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS <br />A. Definitions <br />1. Sanitary Sewer Service District <br />This is the total area that a sewer trunk is designed to serve and that benefits <br />from the sewer construction as defined by maps and drawings prepared by the <br />City Engineer/Consulting Engineer. <br />2. Sanitary Sewer Interceptors <br />A network of relatively large diameter, deep sewer pipes and associated <br />pumping stations and appurtenances. The MCES constructs, owns and <br />operates interceptor sewers as well as treatment facilities within the 7-County <br />Minneapolis St. Paul metropolitan area. The interceptors are designed as <br />collectors for large areas within two or more communities. <br />3. Sanitary Sewer Trunks and Subtrunks <br />A network of pipes ranging in size generally larger than 8 inches in diameter <br />extending away from respective interceptor mains. Lift stations and force <br />mains are considered part of the sewer trunk system. The trunks and <br />subtrunks are designed as collectors for areas usually less than 500 acres. <br />4. Sanitary Sewer Laterals <br />Sanitary network of pipes, usually 8" in size which are installed 10-12 feet <br />deep and are designed to serve those buildings abutting a given street or <br />easement. The laterals drain to trunks, subtrunks or directly to interceptors. <br />5. Sanitary Sewer Services <br />Those pipes, usually 4" or 6" in size leading from homes or businesses to <br />laterals (or sometimes from trunks, subtrunks and interceptors). The services <br />
