Council~ _C~ch stated he had asked the Public Works Supervisor for some futuristic planning <br />documents sh~wi~ g what would take place when the new person comes on board and he hasn't <br />received any ~.l~ch~port as yet. He added that he was not in favor of filling that position. <br /> <br />Motion by ( <br />recommemi~t <br />Maintenanc~ ~ <br /> <br />Mr. MevisSO~h P~blic Works Supervisor, stated he is very understaffed. The Public Works <br />Department ~ b .a~ely keeping up with the patching, sweeping and grading of roads plus the <br />drainage syl leto ~has not been addressed for several years. Park maintenance had been <br />subeontracte~ in previous years also. Mr. Mevissen added that he is submitting reports for <br />Council to re~ ew Once a month in the Agenda. <br /> <br />Councilmem! er (2ich argued that this type of reporting was "after the fact" and he wants futuristic <br />planning 'r <br /> <br /> !ouncilmember Hardin and seconded by Mayor Gilbertson to approve the <br /> onsiof the Personnel and Budget Committees to fill the position of Public Works <br /> Vorl~ and direct staff to proceed with advertising for the position. <br /> <br />Motion carne~. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Counci!members Hardin and Beyer. Voting No: <br />None. Abstai~l: Councilmember Cich. Absent: CouncilmemherPeterson. <br /> <br />Ms. McAlon~y stated there had heen some discussion regarding hiring a part-time temporary <br />p~son for the~Eng[neering Deparunent. <br /> <br />Motion by Cgun~.ilmember Hardin and seconded by Mayor Gilbenson to authorize the City <br />Engineer to utilize?pan-time help at a cost not to exceed $3,500.00. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Hardin, Beyer and Cich. <br />Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Peterson. <br />Case #2: i Proposed Public Facility Naming Policy <br /> <br />Parks/Utiliti? COOrdinator, Mark Boos, stated that as a result of the request to have the south <br />portion of Pd'~er's Bend Park renamed, it came to light that the City did not have a formal public <br />facility narn~ _g policy. ,_T~_e Park and Recreation Commission approved a proposed facility naming <br />policy for th~ CoUncil s review. Unless, City Council directs otherwise, only facility names <br />different fro~the Subdivision that contains them would be brought to City Council for approval. <br /> <br />Motion by Cogneiknember Hardin and seconded by Mayor Gilbenson to adopt Resolution g01-06- <br />138 adopting the Park and Recreation Commission's Public Facility Naming Policy. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Hardin, Beyer and Cich. <br />Voting No: lqone.' Absent: Councilmember Peterson. <br /> <br />Case #3: :'Adopt Ordinance to Rezone Certain Property to R-3 Urban <br /> ,,Residential; Case of Lord of Life Church and Robert and Janet <br /> i: Bernstrom <br /> <br />Zoning Admihistrator, Sylvia Frolik, stated that on May 28, 1991, City Council introduced an <br />ordinance tO~ez0ne certain property in Section 25 to R-3 Urban Residential to permit the <br />development Of a new church for Lord of Life. <br /> <br />Motion by Cogn¢ilmember Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Cich to adopt Ordinance g91- <br />11 to rezoned,~roperty in Section 25 from B-1 Business to R-3 Urban Residential. <br /> <br />City Council/June 11, 1991 <br /> Page 5 of 8 <br /> <br /> <br />
