The base of any advertising sign must be landscaped with at least grass and must be <br /> properly maintained. <br /> <br />e. Advertising signs shall not exceed 300 square feet in area nor 25 feet in height as measured <br /> perpendiCUlarly from the height of the highest point of the sign structure to the grade level <br /> direotlY below the sign. The existing grade may not be altered for the purpose of increasing <br /> sign height. <br /> <br />f. Advertising signs shall be considered a principal use of the property. Advertising signs <br /> must be removed when the parcel upon which they are situated is devoted to another <br /> principal use. <br /> <br /> The City shall perform a yearly inspection of the advertising devices to ensure compliance <br /> of said advertising structure with the provisions of this section and other provisions of this <br /> Ordinance. The fee for said inspection shall be set by the Ramsey City Council by <br /> resolufio._n. <br /> <br />a) <br /> <br />Wall, Canopy or Marquee Sign. There shall not be more than one (1) wall sign for each <br />prin¢ipai building except where the building abuts two or more streets, additional such <br />signs, One (1) oriented to each abutting street, shall be permitted. The gross surface area of <br />a wall ~signishall not exceed fifteen (15) percent of the area of the building wall, including <br />doors and windows, to which the sign is to be affixed. The gross surface area of a wall <br />sign rn~y be increased by ten (10) percent if such wall sign: <br /> <br />consists only of individual, outlined alphabetic, numeric, and/or sumbolic <br />characters without background except provided by the building surface to which the <br />sign is to be affixed; and <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />any illumination, if an3', is achieved through shielded illumination, shielded <br />silhouette lighting, or shielded spot lighting but not any lighting where the light <br />source is visible or exposed on the face or sides of the characters. <br /> <br />A walk canopy or marquee sign ma3' be located on the outermost wall of any principal <br />building but shall not project more than sixteen (]6) inches from the wall to which the si~ <br />is to be affixed. A wail sign shall not project higher than the parapet line of the wall to <br />,, hich ~e sign is to be affixed. Where a principal building is devoted to two (2) or more <br />permitted uses, the operator of each such use max, install a wall sign upon his/her <br />proportionate share of the building wall to which the sign is to be affixed.
