Councilmemb~ Cook replied that the Comprehensive Plan is <br />amended ever~ couple of years with minor changes. <br /> <br />a moving target and should be <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak inquired if the Council agreed that the Planning Commission should be <br />kept more infon~ed as to what the Council is doing by providing them with a copy of the Weekly <br />Update. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman replied that staff could create a public document that would be sent <br />to all Board and Comnfission members. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Council was to direct staff to create a public document to inform all Board and <br />Commission members of what the City Council is working on. <br /> <br />4) 2:00 a.m. Bar Closing <br /> <br />City Administrgtor Norman stated that when the Council discussed the issue of changing the bar <br />closing time tO:r 2:00 a.m. the consensus of the Council was that there would not be any changes <br />to thc current p~°licy. Since that time staff has reviewed the ordinance and there needs to be some <br />"houselceeping" changes to the ordinance. There would be no changes to the actual policy. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson explained that the cun'ent language states that they have to <br />stop serving alcohol at 1:00 a.m. and that the drinks have to be picked-up by 1:30 a.m. and closed <br />by 2:00 a.m. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig replied that he does not want to have them stop serving at 1:00 a.m. and <br />then force them out the door because they will be creating their own problem. <br /> <br />Gary Gruber, Diamonds Sports Bar, stated that if the City does not allow them to be competitive <br />with the other surrounding bars that provide entertainment they will continue watch to people <br />leave their bus/ness, If they are not allowed to serve until 2:00 a.m. they cannot advertise that <br />way. His staffs~tarted a petition and they received over 900 signatures to keep the bars open until <br />2:00 a.m. He inquired if it was possible for the establishments to plead their case at a regular <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamee r~plied absolutely. <br /> <br />Mt'. Gruber replied that that is all they are asking for. <br /> <br />5) City CoUncil Strategic Planning Session <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson provided the Council with different options where their <br />Strategic Goal Planning Session could be held. <br /> <br />Councitmember Kurak inquired as to why they would bring in a facilitator. <br /> <br />City Council Work Session/January 6, 2004 <br /> Page 12 of 13 <br /> <br /> <br />
