information on how to be more effective. The Community Sign & Facility Use Rental Policy has been amended to
include guidelines and procedures for the, additional community event promotion resources that
are available for use by eligible outside parties through the City of Ramsey. The additional
resources included are: the Ramsey Resident, the In the News section of the City's website, the
Weekly Update, and the City's Facebook page.
The revised policy is consistent with existing policy positions, with the addition of more clearly
defined operational procedures specific to each promotional resource. The Community Event
Promotion and Facility Use Rental Policy now states the message requirements and message
duration allowed for the Ramsey Resident, In the News, Weekly Update and Facebook page, in
addition the Community Sign.
The Community Sign Application has also been revised to include these resources. Eligible users
will now be required to submit a Community Event Promotion Application upon request for their
message to be featured in any of the City's community event promotion resources. Attached to
this Weekly Update is the Complete Community Event Promotion and Facility Use Rental Policy
and Community Event Promotion Application.
Public Works Update. It's been a pretty calm week for us in public works. We continue to try
to scrape ice off the roads when the weather cooperates. The roads have cleared enough that we
are able to do some pothole patching as needed. We had to say good bye to our 1995 Case wheel
loader this week. The transmission went out and the repair bill would be approximately
$25,000.00. With the loader being 20 years old and over 9000 hours of service, it's just not
practicable to repair. Thanks to the finance department putting together a 3 year equipment
replacement schedule, we are able to move up the purchase of a replacement that was scheduled
for 2016. We are expecting delivery sometime between January and March 2015. This will affect
our snowplowing somewhat, because the loader is used to plow a route. We added a new plow
route this winter, but with the loss of the loader, we will have to revert back to last year's schedule.
Rinks are scheduled to be open for the season (both locations), December 12t at 3:30
PM. However, now the forecast is to be quite warm, with the possibility of drizzle for Sunday, so
they may not be open until Monday at 3:30. Weather depending as they say... If the lights are on
after dark, then the warming house is open. The utility department is working on building an
"addition" in pump house #1. They are building a separate room for the chemicals in an attempt
to help cut down on the corrosion caused by the fluoride fumes.
Building Inspection Technician Katy Hauan Appointed President of the Minnesota Building
Permit Technician Association for 2015. Staff is honored to announce that Ms. Katy Hauan,
Building Inspection Technician for the Community Development Department, has been appointed
by the peers of her professional organization, the Minnesota Building Permit Technician
Association, as their President for 2015. Ms. Hauan has put in hour of dedication not only to our
organization, but her profession as well. Katy's colleagues and coworkers find her to be incredibly
helpful, well- spoken, and professional. This recognition is well deserved.
City of Ramsey Hosts Collection Site for Toys for Joy and Granny's Closet. Once again, the
City of Ramsey will be a collection site this holiday season for Toys for Joy and Granny's Closet
Our Mission: To work together to responsibly grow our community, and to provide quality, cost - effective, and efficient government services
