I ,I CASE # 1 RESIGNATION OF GERALD ZIMMERMAN, APPOINTMENT OF NEW PLANNING ,! AND ZONING COMMISSION CHAIRPERSONS AND, DISCUSS SCHEDUL~ TO FILL PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION VACANCY Background: As you probably know, on January 17, 1992 Gerald Zimmerman was appointed to fill the unexpired terra Bf P~Schard Cich on the Ramsey City Council. Mr. Zimmerman has submitted his resignation froffi the Planning and Zoning Commission. This is also the time of year in which we regularly appOi~!t c§airpersons to commissions. Mr. Zimmerman served as Chairperson of the Commission an~ Mr. Hendriksen currently serves as Vice-Chairperson. Observations~ Past policy has been to advertise Commission vacancies in the City newsletter. The Commission vacancy will b~iadvertised in the February newsletter, which comes out about the 3rd week of the month. In orde~ to allow sufficient time to submit applications and in order to fill the vacancy prior to the May m~ting of the Commission, I would like to suggest that the Commission conduct a special meetingilin March to interview applicants and submit a recommendation to Council for their action on the 4th Tuesday in March. With such a schedule, we could have a full member commission again for the regular meeting in April. Recommendaiion: City Staff rec0mrr}ends accepting the resignation of Gerald Zimmerman, appointing new ch:firpersons,lal~d scheduling a special meeting the week of March 16, (preferably Wednesday, ~,/!~'ch 18) to iniervi~w applicants. Motioni to: Accept the resignation of Gerald Zimmerman from the Planning and Zoning Commission, direc!
