Shopping C~nter is a commercial development consisting of three (3) or more separate <br />commercial es~blishments sharing a common building, entrance way or parking area. <br /> <br />Sign means any letter, word or symbol, device, poster, picture, statuary, reading matter, or <br />representation in the nature of an advertisement, announcement, message or visual communication, <br />whether pain[ed, posted, printed, affixed or constructed, which is displayed outdoors for <br />informational or communicative purposes. <br /> <br />Sign Area me~s that area within the marginal lines of the surface which bears the advertisement, <br />or in the case of messages, figures or symbols attached directly to any pan of a building, that area <br />which is included ih the smallest rectangle which can be made to circumscribe the message, figure <br />or symbol displayed thereon. The stipulated maximum sign area for a free standing sign refers to a <br /> <br />Street Frontage refers to the proximity of a parcel of land to one (1) or more streets. An interior <br />lot has one (!) rstreet frontage and a corner lot has two (2) such frontages. <br /> <br />Tempqrary Sign means a sign which is erected or displayed for a limited period of time...gL~ ~ <br /> gn means any sign which is affixed to a wall of any building. <br /> <br />Window Sign means a sign installed inside a window, or any sign placed within a building for <br />the purpose of being visible from the public fight-of-way. <br /> <br />9.12.03 GENERAL PROVISIONS <br /> <br />Subd. 1 Address sign. One (1) address sign ' ' ' ' shall be <br /> ::required per building in all districts. Said sign shall not be greater than four (4) <br /> (square feet in area and shall only indicate a'~m~g:~m~l~,-address of occupant. <br /> <br />Subd. 4 <br /> <br />Bench sign. Bench signs shall be permitted only at bus.stops. <br /> <br />iGround Sign. Any ground sign within feet of any intersection <br />ilof street right-of-way lines and/or driveway entrances shall have a minimum vertical <br />clearance of fte~ feet above the centerline of the pavement. <br /> <br />Canopies or Marquees. Canopies and marquees shall be considered to be an <br />integral part of the sumcture to which they are an accessory. Signs may be attached <br />to a canopy or marquee, but such structures shall not be considered as part of the <br />Wall area and thus shall not warrant additional sign area. <br /> <br />Subd. 5 <br /> <br />Content. No sign shall contain any indecent or offensive picture or written <br />matter. No sign shall contain obscene images or statements in accordance with <br />Minn. Stat. 617.241. <br /> <br />Subd. 6 Location. <br /> <br />a) <br /> <br />No sign other than governmental signs shall be erected or temporarily placed within any <br />street or public right-of-way or upon any public easement. <br /> <br />Sign Ord.
