CASE # 7 <br /> <br /> REVIEW PROPOSED SIGN ORDINANCE <br /> By: Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br /> <br />Background~ <br /> <br />Per the Comrr4,,ssio~'s direction at their February meeting, I have made additional amendments to <br />the proposed'si~n ~o~dinance. The following is a listing of and a reference to those amendments: <br /> <br />1. Provid~ a definition for banners separate from pennants. Make allowances for banners to <br /> be us~ as Wall signs year around. <br /> Accomplish, ed, For definmon, see Section 9.12.02. For regulations, see Subd. 10 of <br /> Secti0~ 9.ii2.03. Section 9.12.05, subd. 1, was also modified accordingly to eliminate <br /> reference to banners. <br /> <br />2. Estal31i~h r~gulations for flags and restrict use of flags for commercial purposes. <br /> Accon~Plished., : · Refer to Subd. 11 of Section 9.12.03. <br />3. Do not!!lim[t temporary real estate signs for the purpose of selling or leasing individual lots <br /> or bu~l~iing,~ to on-site only. <br /> <br /> AccC)~plished. Refer to Section 9.12.05, Subd. 5. Item b.3 limiting these types of signs <br /> to one per .s~reet frontage was eliminated. <br /> <br />4. Provid~ language to allow the use of pennants as long as they are well maintained. <br /> Accomplished. Refer to Section 9.12.03, Subdivision 9. Section 9.12.05, subd. 1, was <br /> also n~difted accordingly to eliminate reference to pennants. Section 9.12.17, subd. 3, <br /> was al~o mc)dified to exempt pennants from permits and fees. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />There haVe b%n a substantial number of changes made to the proposed sign ordinance since the <br />public hearin~ I ~ould recommend that if there are no further amendments, that the Planning and <br />Zoning Comi~iss~on conduct one additional public hearing prior to sending the ordinance to <br />Council for actopfiOn. <br /> <br />Commission!
