He noted that the Town Center <br />Task Force is very willing to work on the zoning districts for the town center site. <br /> <br />Alena Hunter, 14286 Helium Street, Ramsey, stated that she is a member of the Town Center <br />Task Force and explained that all of the members are in favor of initiating a town center zoning <br />district. She stated that the task force feels that it is a very timely issue and they would like to <br />see things get done. The task force is willing to do anything they can to get the zoning district in <br />order and establish the rules for the area. A survey is going to be sent out in the next Ramsey <br />Resident to find out what the citizens would like to see within the town center site. She also <br />noted that the Town Center Task Force has an open forum on the fourth Thursday of every <br />month from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. They are looking to collect as much information as possible to <br />make good sound decisions. <br /> <br />Principal Planner Trudgeon inquired as to whom staff should work with on writing the town <br />center regulations. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak felt that it would be more timely to have the Town Center Task Force <br />begin the process and then bring it forward to the Planning Commission and City Council. <br /> <br />The majority consensus was to initiate the process with Town Center Task Force and then bring <br />the suggestions forward to the Planning Commission and City Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that they need to make sure that the communication continues <br />between the groups. <br /> <br />Mr. Elvig recommended having someone from the Planning Commission and City Council <br />attend the Town Center Task Force meeting periodically to be involved in the process <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen noted that the Town Center Task Force meeting does not show up <br />on their weekly update and requested that be done. He also noted that the Council does not <br />receive a copy of their agendas. He stated that if the Town Center Task Force is going to take on <br />more responsibilities, then it needs to be done in a more formal way. <br /> <br />Mr. Elvig agreed. <br /> <br />2) Residential Zoning Issues. <br /> <br />Mr. Gordon explained that the Committee had discussed the issue of mother-in-law apartments at <br />the previous meeting. He presented an ordinance that had been written in 1995, but was never <br />adopted. He explained that the ordinance would not allow accessory apartments above garages. <br />He also presented an ordinance from Chaska that states accessory apartments can only occur over <br />detached structures.
