In 2014, a funding package for the construction of <br />a new grade - separated interchange located at U.S. Highway 10/ Armstrong Boulevard in the City <br />of Ramsey was completed (known as the Armstrong Interchange Project). Governor Mark Dayton, <br />U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, U.S. Representative Michelle Bachman, MnDOT Commissioner <br />Charlie Zelle, County Commissioner Matt Look, and Ramsey Mayor Sarah Strommen spoke at an <br />appreciation event that the City of Ramsey hosted on December 22, 2014, to recognize the many <br />funding partners of the Armstrong Interchange project. Overall, the event had a great turn out <br />(about 150 attendees) and good media coverage (KARE 11, StarTribune, ABC News). <br />Metropolitan Council Appointments. Staff received an announcement from <br />Metropolitan council titled governor Dayton announces Metropolitan Council <br />Appointments Notice and Process. Attached to the Weekly Update is a copy of that <br />notice. <br />The MRT and Economic Development <br />The Mississippi River Trail continues to be a harbinger of a Happy New Year with respect <br />to economic development and tourism. On the day before New Year's Eve, Ramsey will <br />take delivery of one of 7 kiosks statewide, funded by the Mississippi Parkway <br />Commission and MnDOT. One side of the kiosk will consist of local content and way <br />finding, and the other on aspects of the National and State -wide MRT. The signs are one <br />element of many to encourage tourism within the state relating to the trail, which in <br />Ramsey, is also part of United States Bike Route #45 - 700 miles of which are within <br />Minnesota. <br />The kiosk will be installed along the MRT west of the touchdown area of the future <br />Mississippi Skyway, on the north side of the Riverdale Drive Extension in the spring of <br />2015. Attached to the Weekly Update are the planned locations of the kiosk in <br />Minnesota, and an example of the two -sided panel. <br />
