August 22, 1985

Mr. Lloyd Sc~elle
City Administrator
Ramsey M~nicipal Center
Ramsay, ~ .i55303

RE: Pro~sed Airport
!
Dear Mr, $chnelle:
I attended the Airport Cu,,~ssion meeting at the Ramsey City Hall
last evening, We were told that we could address our ccmmr~nts to you
with regakd to our feelings on this matter.

We bBilt our home in Ramsey 12-1/2 years ago. We purchased our
lot three!iyears prior to that, before the airport was in existence at
its present site. We were attracted to this area because of the
quiet, country-type atmosphere that is offered in this community. To
expand the present airport, which is big enough as far as I'm
concerned, w~,ld diminish the peaceful atmosphere that draws so many
people to' live in this area.

Both mY husband and I are originally from Brooklyn Center. If we
had wanted city life, we would have stayed there. We chose to live in
Ramsey because it afforded us the quality of life thatwe wanted for
our familY. ~Please don't destroy this by enlarging the airport, thus
attracting the kind of atmosphere that we moved away from.

It~s very evident at the meeting last night that this
idea is an extremely unpopular one. I do not feel that this proposal
would ben, fit the residents of our city. I realize that progress is
important; but there has to be a better way to achieve this goal. To
quote a c~ncerned citizen from last night's meeting, "If having an
airport of this size is such a "plum," then why isn't every city
ctanmo~ing for one?"

jb

Tha~

you for your time and consideration in this matter.
~cerely, ~

/oan Balabon ~

cc: C£~y~o~r~Ramsey Airport C~ssion
