Sharon
and do

w~r- If Gateway becomes publicly owned,
it as they please?

can Metro Council claim it

Mr. Otto - Gateway is not proposed to be owned the the Metro Airports
Cc~ission; it would be municipally owned. Because it is currently privately
owned, it cannot withstand economic pressures and accommodate aviation 20 years
from r~w. 'After it is publicly owned, it can be there 20 years from now. Anoka
airport iS ~rt of the MAC system; initially, it was not and don't know the
specific Pk[story of that airport.

Sharon Mager - 7260 152nd Lane 5W - Regarding being eligible for AIP funds --
first application must be made and then it requires approval.

Mr. Otto - Correct. It is one thing to be eligible and another thing to be
high enou~ oB the priority list. If Gateway is developed, it is critical that
AIP f~ds ~e ~0btained. Another hurdle to overcome is getting Gateway included
in the Nat/or~%l Systems Plan.

Sharon Mag~r - Live on the flight pattern and noise is a nuisance and increased
air traffi~ will increase that noise nuisance; this nuisance will result in
decreased property values. Owners of property in clear zones will be bought
out but the rest of the residents in the vicinity will have to live with it.

Ron Peterka - 7561 152nd Lane ~W - Why is the airport layout plan that includes
acquisition of 14 h~nes and 2 commercial businesses considered to be the most
feasible?

Mr. Otto - Feasible may not have been the correct use of terms; it is
desireable .: to orient the runway in a way that would take advantage of the most
wind coverage. Prevailing winds in this area call for an ~ ~,unway.

Ron Peterka - What are Metro Gouncil's estimates for future based aircraft at
Gateway?

Mr. Otto -~Metro Council has not figures for Gateway in particular. Metro
Council has a~ system plan for the entire 7 County Metro area; their forecast is
for 3,000 - 3,500 based aircraft in the region and they do not allocate that
forecast to any of the private airports. Metro Council is currently in the
process of up, ting their system plan. The estimates in this airport master
study are (~ the high side which is a better situation when considering the
project fr~m an environmental impact standpoint.

Ron Feterka - What impact will airport development have on area wildlife?

Mr. Otto - There is nothing in Federal or State records to indicate that there
is any wa~.t~r f~wl manag~.nt areas in the vicinity of the airport; there are
some wetlands there that will be looked at during the Environmental Assessment
process if the 'study proceeds that far.

Vic Bunes - 7101 149th Lane ~W - Regarding landfills and airports being
incompatible, what is the projected life of the landfill is the airport
development is approved?
August 21, 1985
