approaoh the cities of Anoka and Elk River for their involveaent. <br /> <br />Commission oonsensus is to request that City Staff prepare a formal letter <br />extending an invitation to the following to attend the joint Council/Airport/ <br />Econcmio Development/Planning & Zoning meeting in Ramsey on May 15, 1985 at <br />7:30 p.m.: <br /> <br />Elk River Council and Mayor <br />Anoka Council and Mayor <br />Champlin Mayor and Council <br />Anoka Chamber of O~u~erce <br />Elk River Chamber of Commerce <br />County Cxmmmissioner Natalie Haas (requesting that she invite other County <br /> Commissioners) <br />Mark Ryan, Metro Council Airport Coordinator <br />Josephine Nunn, area representative to Metro Council <br />Interested Industry <br /> <br />Commissioner Soderholm volunteered to oversee that interested industry in the <br />area receive an invitation to the May 15 meeting. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sieber stated that the assistance of interested business in the <br />area is needed to defray Ramsey's share of airport development costs. <br /> <br />Commissioner Soderholm agreed and stated it should not be looked to for <br />business to pick up all of Ramsey's share; his taxes in Ramsey are <br />$1,000/month for a dirt road, that he donated, accessing his business; the <br />City has nothing to offer and attract commercial growth; the City must make <br />a decision to do scmething to keep Ramsey competitive with other communities. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sieber stated that one of the major problems holding Ramsey's <br />commercial growth back is the area transportation problems and the need for <br /> <br />Commissioner Sieber inquired as to how a city finds those industries that have <br />a need for an airport. <br /> <br />Commissioner Soderholm stated that there is sufficient evidence that airports <br />attract business; by advertising in trade and aviation magazines you can <br />target that group of people better than any other group because aviation <br />related persons are a known group. <br /> <br />Commission consensus was to adjourn at 8:38 p.m. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />Sylvia Frolik <br />Secretary <br /> <br />April 17, 1985 <br />Page 2 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
