Commissioner Morrow stated that an effort will be made to determine if any <br />FBO's are !nt~rested in Gateway and to also obtain a list of airplanes owned <br />in Minnesota. <br /> <br />Commissioner Greenberg stated that commuter flights to Mpls. International <br />would generate industrial growth in the northern area. <br /> <br />Commissioner Soderholm stated that it is more economically sound for a business <br />to charter~flSghts rather than go to a commercial flight. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sieber inquired as to how airports operate and make money. <br /> <br />Commissioner Patz stated that those questions would be answered in the Economic <br />Impact Study. <br /> <br />COMMISSION INPUT <br /> <br />CommissiQner Sieber noted that at the last meeting there was talk of relocating <br />County Hwy!. #116. Commissioner Sieber stated that this fact should be <br />officiallYbrQught to the County's attention; that he has talked with County <br />Commissioner Haas and it seems that this is not going to be a light issue. <br />If there ih absolute opposition from the County, we might as well disband <br />this project. <br /> <br />Motion by £ommissioner Patz directing Commissioner Sieber to contact the County <br />regarding ~he~possible necessity to relocate Hwy. #116 if Gateway North Airport <br />plans proceed~and solicit a reply from the County. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Commissioner Greenberg suggested that the County should <br />be contacted by the City of Ramsey after the feasibility study is complete. <br />Commissioner $ieber stated that the County should be informed well in advance, <br />that they have on-going plans for that highway. <br /> <br />Commissioner Siebert seconded the motion. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Ippel, Commissioners Morrow, Patz, <br />Sieber, Donovan, Soderholm, Moen, Greenberg and Siebert. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sieber stated that he will give Chairman Ippel an opportunity <br />to review the'letter to. the County before submitting it to the County. <br /> <br />Chairman Ippel stated that he would contact the State Aeronautics Division <br />to find out what process is to be used in applying for funding to perform <br />studies a~d also to invite persons to attend the next regular meeting of the <br />Airport Commission to answer zoning questions. <br /> <br />It was determined that the Economic Subcommittee shall proceed with their <br />plans to ~ind!out how many aircraft are owned in Minnesota and business <br />interest in the area with regards to air travel. <br /> <br />Commissioner $ieber inquired as to surrounding community interest. He also <br />noted that DNR has designated a portion of the River, just south of Ramsey, <br />for floatPlane landings. <br /> <br />Commissioner Greenber§ stated that he has been approached by Anoka EDC and <br />they have,offered assistance. <br /> <br />AP/October 13, 1983 <br />Page 6 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
