March 23, 1987

Mayor Gary i!Reimann
City of R~seyI
15153 Now~h.:'en ~lvd.
Ramsey, MN 5~303

Dear Mr. Ma?rot:

I am writ~n~ t~is letter to express my dissatisfaction with the city of
Ramsey s ~rDpoSal for the possible development of the airport in Ramsey.

From talk~n; t~ many residents it has become apparent that the majority
of these ~e~id~nts are opposed to this development. The following facts
support t~e~r. ~eliefs:
#1) The ~u~ch~se of the airport from its present owners will only bene-
fit these iciness by relieving their tax burden and placing a future tax
burden on~a~l ~msey residents. '

~2) Incr~a~in~ the size of the airport will only increase traffic, noise
and the r~s~ o~ possible accidents to both humans and facilities located
too closeit~, ~ t~e~ present airport.
#3) The ~e~el~ment of the airport will not greatly affect the valua-
tion and de'element of industrial and commercial properties in the city
of Ramsey.~
#4) The aii~ipo~ is not a necessity for the quality of life for the
residents ~2 t~ city of Ramsey and surrounding communities.
#5) The p~sen~ permission with permits that the landfill has for future
constructi~! will allow the landfill to exceed height limitations and
cause a ha~rd %0 aircraft traffic.
In respons~to ~he above mentioned points here are some questions to
ponder: ~ ,

I) If th~ itax~s for the present owners are too great to handle, why
not do awa~ ~it~ the present airport, re-zone the property for much
needed sin~ f~mily housing with possible sewer and water, and turn a
vacant unp~¢~uc~ive site into a better tax base for all the residents.
II) The p~en~ housing both north and south is now a.hazard plus the
Super Bowl~ ~ma!l World Daycare, Chip's Video and Pizza, Grace Commun-
ity Bible ~arc~ and Northern Oxygen Service all have more people on
site than ~at ~ill be allowed if the development proceeds. Northern
Oxygen has~q~he~ on site problems which should' be considered. The
Super Bowline ~lght llghtlng which would not be conducive to a safe
