Case #10: .Vot~in~ Equipment Conference: Council noted~a conference that is to be held Wednesday, January 25, 1984 at the State Capitolifrom 8~-30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. regarding various voting machines. Case #11i Co..mmunity Development Block Grant Funds: Mayor Game~c stated that the Taft Committee has decided that communities will be going to al 3 year allocRtion of funds. Ramsey's allocation over the next 3 yea-rs ~1984; 85 and 86) will be approximately $90,939.00. Mayor Gamec noted t~at Ramsey has a difficult time qualifying for HUD grants because of the requirgments that are set up; if anyone has any suggestions as to how this mone~ could be used in Ramsey, they should let their ideas be known. Councilme~ber Schlueter inquired if the money has to be used in one year's time andlWho~.makes the decision as to how it will be used? Is EDC involved? I I I I I I I I Mayor Gallo r.eplied that Council and EDC make the decision as to the use of CDBG Fun~s. ~f Ramsey does not use the money by the third year, we can either loan it o~t o~ chances are we will lose it; we cannot bank the money. County C~s~oner Haas pointed out that the money will no longer sit in a eounty ~undI for distribution to communities; it will be held at the Federal level. A~oo~unity must have a specific project in mind in order to apply for the ~ ey, if not, your community could be the last one to receive it's share. MaYOR/COU~C~ ~NPUT Mr. Schne~le ~oted that there is a PATF Task Force public hearing scheduled for Jan ~sXy .~5, 1984 and inquired if Councilmembers shouldn' t be present at that h%ar'~ng. Are Ramsey's reco~endations included in the report that has been 9rePUted? Councila~e~ri Schlueter stated she would be unable to attend the public hearing. She also ~ote~ that Ramsey's concerns were the same as other PATF members and those c°nOer~s are in the report but not specifically in Ramsey's name. Mr. sch~e~le.Stated that we should know for sure if Ramsey's recommendations are in ~ r~port and whether or not Ramsey should be attending the public hearing.' ~ TW~ citizens have called City Hall regarding Ramsey's stand on this issue. I I Councilmembe~ Reimann stated that he feels the situation has been explained well enough ~and that Ramsey Council should not have to attend the hearing.
