If that funding proposal was successful, both <br />the Ramsey and Sunfish Blvd. intersections would be in -line to receive funding for grade - <br />separation projects. <br />Heart -Safe Ramsey Update. Tim Hoffman announced that Heart -safe Ramsey effort reached a <br />milestone this week, as it has now trained over 100 people in bystander CPR! Plans are also being <br />made for additional City staff training in February and April of this year. Mr. Hoffman has a goal <br />of training 2000 people in Ramsey by July 1 of this year and has been busy lining up local <br />businesses and organizations to participate. <br />Updated look coming to Ramsey. As part of the City's strategic plan to improve communication <br />and develop a stronger image, staff is working with a design firm to develop standardized graphics <br />to be used consistently across all departments, and for City marketing, informational, and <br />promotional material. This initiative is aimed at updating and refreshing existing materials for <br />consistency and improved professionalism, and will complement the City's existing brand. Expect <br />the updated materials to be rolled -out this spring. <br />Polar Bear Plunge. Cut a hole in ice on a lake and jump into the water? Yes please! For the fourth <br />year in a row your Police Department staff will be jumping through a hole in ice for a great cause; <br />Special Olympics Minnesota. Special Olympics is an organization which helps and supports kids <br />and adults with intellectual disabilities. The Polar Bear Plunge is one of many ways Law <br />Enforcement supports Special Olympics athletes throughout the year. The Polar Plunge has been <br />in existence state wide for some time, and in 2012 Anoka County Law Enforcement began hosting <br />their own event. All funds raised go towards programs and events for over 8,000 athletes <br />statewide. This single event in 2014 raised over $140,000. <br />For the past three years the City of Ramsey's Public Works Department has donated a large amount <br />of cut firewood to the Anoka County Plunge for a campfire. Having the fire is a highlight for <br />spectators and plungers alike, having a place to warm up. The Police Department is very <br />appreciative of our Public Works Department for their generosity. This year's plunge is Saturday, <br />February 28 at 1:00 pm at Crooked Lake in Coon Rapids. Please join him for cake and coffee in the <br />Alexander Ramsey Room on Friday, January 30 between 2:00 — 4:00 pm. There will be <br />a short presentation at 3:30 pm. Jim's family will also be hosting a reception beginning at <br />6:30 pm at the Fountains of Ramsey. Appetizers and a cash bar will be served. There will <br />be a program beginning at 7:30pm.
