The public hearings adjourned at 8 =38 p.m. and a Board of Adjustment was called to orderl ~eg~ding variance request, case of Mr. Bonald Danner. The special C~uncil meeting was called back to order at 8:45 p.m. Council recessed at 8:45 p.m. Mayor Ga~ec c~llea the special meeting back to order at 9=00 p.m. COUNCIL ~SI ,N~SS Case %5: i.A~°inting Of A Councilmember To Serve On A Joint Highway Task Force : ii {-F&~ se¥, Anoka, Champlin and Dayton) To Study Long-Term Needs i Re~arding. Traffic On T.H. 169: Mayor Gam~c introduced Anoka City Oouncilmember John Weaver. Mr. Weaver stated that MnDoT is proposing to upgrade the Ferry Street segment in Anoka ~r°m the Mississippi River Bridge to T.H. %10 bypass. This has great imp'~ica, tions for BAmsey and Champlin because this anticipated /mprove~ent Will not only carry 26,000 cars currently, but 56,000 cars in the future. A h~aring was held a month ago and there was a great outpouring of resistance t~ this proposed project. Anoka City Council has decided to put in place !a txaffic task force made up of elected representatives from Ramsey, Anoka, Champ!in and Dayton and Anoka and Hennepin Counties. Therefore, Mr. weaver r~quested that Ramsey participate in that task force which is intended to search out probable alternatives and options to the proposed project. Mayor Ge~iec replied that Council will be appointing a person to serve on that task force later in the meeting. I I I I Refer to Page 7, Paragraph 5 for further action. Case #A~i ~9~ion of Resolution Orderin~ Street Improvement Project %84-2 ~ Preparation Of Plans And S~ecifications: A petition of 7 homeowners in Rolling Green opposing the project was submitte4 to Mayor Gamec. Deanne ~Heaton - 16531 Ooquina - Stated that she thinks some of those names on the o~Sing petition were obtained over the phone during Council recess. She is!£n f~vor of the project and noted that others that are in favor were present ~ur~g the public hearing but had to leave. Dean Mealhouse - 16541 Coquina - Stated he is in favor of the street improve~ent~project.
