I I I I the homes on Garnet Street have had to have deeper wells, a fourthilho~e now needs a deeper well and a fifth wells shows nitra~$~i I find it hard to believe that in recent water testi~ they won't check for contaminants. They say ground water flo~s to the Southeast, but that is not true. If there is moU~dtbg, water can go any which way, and more than likely it goes N~rth and West. None of us can afford the cost of this kind of t~sting, we hope we aren't drinking chemicals· Presenting a letter ~rom a neighbor who has lived in the community for 46 year~,!'Mr!o August Peltzer, Jr. Mr. Morgan then read the letter· Mr. Morga~ stated that the landfill odors have been worse in the last two ~ears than it has been in the last 10 years. We were told that adequate cover and installation of our vents would get =id olf the sour smell; that was a big joke. We have to go insideo~ nice days and close our windows and doors. The smell of o~rl f~ture park, or whatever they are planning for it, will be enOUg~ to gag an elephant. With regards to property value, in the. 1~ years my family has lived here I feel our property value ~as been going down with every foot of garbage added to the la~d~ill. Our taxes have been going up along with the garbage, i By the time you people get done with this pollution trap~ ~elwon't be able to give our houses away and that's another reason w~y my house wasn't included on your charts. Don't know how a'Pr~posal to move a landfill closer to existing homes and over a n~tural pond ever got this far. I know that I speak for moSt~f ~he residents of R~msey when I say that we will not stan~!~fo~ any more expansion of the landfill either North or Sou~h!am~ if it does not stop here and now, this battle between the ¢~ti~ens of Ramsey and some of our elected officials and Wast~!iMa~agement will turn into the biggest damn war they have ever had~ GregglAustin - 6738 153rd Lane - The smell, noise and contamination is b~ e~ough without moving it closer to my house. The idea that Was=e!MaSagement does not allow toxic waste to be dumped there is incorrect. I have seen a 55 gallon drum of crude oil being d~mped thereiian~ landfill employees also saw it being dumped. That is only One, incident that I happened to witness. That stuff is go~ng~to=get mnto the water supply sooner or later. If the peoPle ¢~nducting this public hearing have so much confidence in this new, landfill, which one of them will buy my house. Chal~rman~ Peterson inquired if Mr. Austin notified Waste Management of thmt ~een violation. Mr. Austin inquired as to what good it would have to to report the :v~o~ation?
