I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

reason~bl~ control on it; Anoka has raped this community for
years~ak~ng the revenues from that landfill for their General
Fund ~d i~he people blaming this Council should take their
picke~ ~sii~ns to the City of Anoka City Hall.
should go Ito Metro Waste Control Commission because the louder
you h0%le~ out here the happier they are. It is time the
citizens get concerned and do something beyond blaming your
Plan~ Commission and Council./~P~BpI~'~-6~I~--~'~membe¥ who-
they ~-e-d~ for in-the last ~leC~ion because down at that State
Capita! t~ere are people creating jobs for themselves; ten years
ago they ~ere paid $8400/year and now they are making over
$20,000 plus their travel expenses; California has twenty times
our pOPulation and we have just as many legislators as California.
Take a=lo~k at the people you elect for office and maybe we can
get some.%ccountable legislation and avoid the problems you are
seeingltohight

Mr. Er~i~?Larson - I am shocked and dismayed that one of the
residents[would stand up here and literally run down people
that are ~lected to office, knowing full well that many of you
work manyihours beyond what you are compensated for. I don't
becaus-e I!don't make $20,000 and they tell me it doesn't take
any bz~inS to be a legislator -- you just have to win an election.
But,~I~iam!going to say this -- I have heard at least six times
tonigh~ that Ramsey City Council has never had a chance for input
into a~y ~ecision concerning permitting or anything else. You
got that Chance, it's here, it's in front of you. I read the
paper,~y°u hold the trump card it says. Now, what are you going
to do with it? I think the paper also says that Anoka will be
riehly~cOmpensated for it's investment in the landfill property.
I hope~that Ramsey is justly compensated also, if this comes to
pass,~ beCDuse I think $200,000, $500,000, $15,000,000 is peanuts
if that ~xound water is contaminated and we look at 20 years or
50 yeats bf pumping that. I think you'll be damn glad that there
is a ~P~A,i you'll be glad that there is a Super Fund and I think
you ShbU~d be glad that there is a legislature.

Chai,Z~n ~eterson noted for the record, receiving letters from
Barb4)~a 3. DeNio, Larry Phillips, three of the Austin children
at 6'5 3~8 ~53rd Lane, Kay Cowman, August Peltzer, Jr., G. Steiner.
Doug%~s ~ountain - 15255 Garnet Street - Why are the odor problems'"~
becom~nglincreasingly obnoxious over the last three years if
the ~il~ 6" coverage over the trash is supposed to eliminate
them~ ........ ~i ..........

Mr. Cooki- Over the last couple of years, there have been
increased volumes of waste; decomposition is accelerating.
Curr4ntl~, there are some repairs being made to the gas collection
systgm; ~ think that the gas collection system and the control
of °4°rslis in need of expanding at this time and will be part
of these iexpansion plans. . _..
Mr. F°unlain ~0U'have made a statement that you are totally

passiye
years ~: an
and ~Unti
my b~k
if you e=

land useage. I have been in my location for seven
during those 7 years, come the first snow of winter
the first of April, I have been feeding pheasants in
ard. Will I have that wildlife visible in my yard
cpand to the North?
Counci/P & Z
Public Hearing
Pace 22 of 23
