Mayor Gamec explained that <br />the Co~ci~ meeting is being held on a Monday because of the <br />Primary~ ~le~tions scheduled for Tuesday, September 1I, 1984. <br /> <br />Douglas i~o.Untain - 15255 Garnet ST. N.W. - Proceeded to read <br />excerpt~s'!fr~m the following past Council minutes: <br /> April ~3, 1979 - "Sue Van Wagner approached the City Council <br /> andl p~resented several pictures of different dates when <br /> deb]'~isi was blown into adjacent yards." (These minutes also <br /> noti.~ i_tha t several other citizens registered complaints <br /> relg~rdiing the landfill and it's operation.) "Councilman Cox <br /> a~.d~eS!sed the group of concerned citizens stating that the <br /> A~t)rn'~y, Engineer and other members of the Council all have <br /> diif~er~nt attitudes but certainly share their feelings and <br /> un;d~rsitand the problem with much greater insite and realize <br /> th!e'i S~riousness of this situation. It is a whole lot <br /> dif~er~ent now than it was back in 1967. -.The people in this <br /> com~ur~ity at that time signed petitions to keep the landfill <br /> out' on!z¥ ~o find out that becaus~ this was a Township it had <br /> no authority an8 could do nothing to keep the landfill out, <br /> l~e ~ sa~-i8 he was one of the original petitioners on the Town <br /> BOa!:d'. for this Township to become a City and for this very <br /> reason."
