Even with sU~.'seguent increases made by the City on commercial property, the City is sti~] 8.!9% behind what Marshall/Swift is reex)mmending. Councilmember Sorteberg suggested that the increase be left at or below the rate of in~lation. Mr. A~n~ie ¢Dx - Stated that Ramsey oo~mercial property should not be oompa~e~ tg~ that property located in prime areas of the 7 oounty metro area. Ra~.~ey needs all the tax base it can get and we continue to stretch the b~r~den{onto our c~m~ercial properties who are operating at a severe tax disadvantage because they are expected to be taxed oomparable to those in prime area~ with no consideration given to depressed sales and business v/ability. Mayor (~ stated that he feels that a 5% increase would be the maximum he would ~o for.
