INNOVATIVE BIKEWAYflWALKWAY PROJECTS This catetzor), is intended to encourage innovative ideas to increase the amount, safety and enjoymen[ of bi~cle and walk trips. As can be seen below, the criteria are very broad so as to give new ideas an opportunity for funding. E.xamp}es of such projecL, ma)' include publishing maps of good commuter bi~,cle or walk routes in a city or count),, signing of such routes, safety education projects, development of bicycle or pedestrian friendly zones, use of special traffic signal actuating devises, etc. New relationships between government uni~ or with the private sector ma), be an avenue to pursue. These examples should not be thought of as a comprehensive list of projects. Priority Criteria/Innovative Proiects Points 400 1. InnovatJveness. Unique projects or applications that foster bicycling or walking for transportation purposes. 2.
