I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> i <br /> I <br /> I <br />I <br /> ! <br /> I <br /> I <br /> ! <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br /> ! <br /> I <br /> <br />P~ARK STEWARDSHIP RECOGNITION PROPOSAL <br />By: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Coordinator <br /> <br />CASE <br /> <br />Background: i <br /> <br />Volunteers continJue to enrich the life in Ramsey through their concern, commitment and <br />generosity. ~s~ ~'esidents make significant contributions of their resources, sometimes without <br />the recognition th¢~, deserve. <br /> <br />Over the cotlr~ of!the last year, the Park and Recreation Commission has discussed various ways <br />to encourag~ and r~ognize citizen donations and volunteer activities. At their September meeting, <br />the CommiSSiOn r~ade a motion to recommend City Council consider a three-tier recognition <br />program. Inmost instances, it would go as follows: <br /> <br />I) Preseng voiUnteer with a personalized certificate. (This would occur upon completion of <br /> the activityi) <br /> <br />II) The Volunt~,er would be acknowledged publicly via the Ramsey Resident Newsletter and <br /> Cable TV. f(This also would occur near the time of the activity's completion.) <br /> <br />III) An offi¢iallannouncement, annually, which would include all volunteers. (This would be <br /> done i~ cOgjunction with the Environmental Expo and Arbor Day celebration and also <br /> possibly at ~ City Council meeting). <br /> <br />The Park and iRecreation Commission proposes a gold leafed bordered certificate on parchment <br />paper. The Verbiage would be composed and printed by City Staff enabling less generic <br />recognition, Larger magnitude efforts may merit inclusion of a frame. The certificate, exclusive of <br />frame, should 'cost [under $3.00 per certificate. <br />Recognition of th~ largest scale efforts and donations would go before the Commission for <br />formulation of' a recommendation to City Council for their action. <br /> <br />The Park and ReCreation Commission and City Staff are desirous of recognizing resident <br />participation retroierively for 1992. <br /> <br />The following items are enclosed for your review: <br /> <br />Park and Recr~ati0n Commission Case #3 dated September 10, 1992 <br />Park and Recreatidn Commission Case #2 dated May 14, 1992 <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />Earlier this y,ar Councilmember Hardin, in particular, suggested that a list detailing donatable <br />items and voiunt~er suitable initiatives be made available to Council and Commissions for <br />occasions when btisinesses and residents express interest in participating in the City's growth. <br /> <br />The Park and Reareation Commission and City Staff are in the process of updating the City's <br />Park's Comp~rehcbsive Plan. This update will include more detail in all park areas plus a <br />development plan ~'or each park suitable for identifying different levels of private park development <br />oppo. rtunities :.(time and/or cash expenditures). The comp plan revision should be completed this <br />cormng year. <br /> <br /> <br />
