Production Design Products, ln cEfv _
~4161 Basal/$~reel NW · Ramsey. MN 55303 · (612) 421.4260 FAX: (612) 421.215~q 1-80J-).4B6-524~
AUG 3 1 1992
August 28, 1992 ~I'IS'~ ....
Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission
15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W.
Ramsey, MN 55303

Dear Gentlemen:

Production Design Products, Inc. established itself as a business
in Ramsey in 1985. We are a custom manufacturing company and we
also have a product line that we market to customers worldwide.

Since we located in the industrial park we have been surrounded by
numerous businesses that do very little to add to the beauty of
this area. It can be very embarrassing to invite potential
customers and foreign representatives to visit when having to deal
with this mess. When we put our addition on this building in 1989
we were requried to supply this city with a landscaping plan that
would make our new addition suitable for it's surroundings and the
city's standards. We were required to asphalt our driveways and
put in curbing, there had to be trees in specific areas. The city
required us to supply them with a letter of credit amounting to
$10,000 in order that we would comply with their standards.

If you came to visit us and looked accross the street at our
neighbor, Danny's "Aluminum" Processing, Inc. you might ask
yourself what city's standards he is required to comply with.
(Previous to Danny's first lease arrangement this area had been
cleaned up.) Some days there are four or five trucks loaded with
miscellaneous scrap parked backwards on the streets. On a busy day
the air is blue enough from whatever is being melted (batteries?)
that it is appalling to breath. We cannot leave any materials
outside our building because when it rains the corrosive chemicals
that pollute the air also ruin the finish on our materials.

What kind of chemicals do you suppose remain in barrels marked
hazardous waste piled inside of other structures waiting to be
processed? What is being buried in the ground? Who cares? How
many landfills and scrapyards do we need in a three mile radius?

As a growing community, Ramsey, it's citizens and leaders need to
look ahead and give great consideration to actions that are taken
today that determine what their community will be known for in
future years and especially what kinds of businesses they want to
attract and support it.

Converling Your Ideas Into Reality

!
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
i
