Case #1 <br /> <br />Summary of 1993 General Fund Budget Requests <br />By: Sandra Ashley Helling, Finance Officer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />At the Budget Meeting of August 11, 1992, staff presented a summary of <br />personal service and capital outlay requests received for the 1993 <br />budget. Tonight we are presenting the total expenditure requests <br />received to ~his point. <br /> <br />Attached: <br /> <br />1993 General Fund Budget Requests detailed by line item <br /> All General Fund Functions <br /> Total 1992 Amended Budget <br /> 1993 Requests more than 1992 Amended Budget <br /> <br />$5,207,271 <br />(2! 559; 7~7) <br />$2, 647,534 <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />The most significant 1993 request is from Public Works: <br /> <br />Land for new public works facility $100,00 <br />New public works facility ~ <br /> <br />$2. 100,000 <br /> <br />For comparing to 1993, subtracting this public works request from the <br />total will gi~e a more realistic working number as to additional funds <br />requested for general operating and non-facility capital request <br />increases. <br /> <br />Therefore, the 1993 Requests, less the P.W. facility, exceed the 1992 <br />amended budget by: <br /> $547,534 <br /> 21.3% <br /> <br />Prior tO completing the individual sub-function worksheets and <br />explanatory notes, staff would like to discuss the following specific <br />topics or services: <br /> <br />Public Works Facility <br />What should staff be preparing for in the 1993 budget? <br /> <br />2 o <br /> <br />Animal Control <br />Should the City continue to pick up cats? <br /> <br />Attached: <br />Memo from Police Chief Auspos <br />Recap of Animal Control Charges through July, 1992 <br /> <br />Anticipated 1993 wage settlements. <br />Does the Budget Committee have a number in mind? <br /> <br />4. Community Education and D.A.R.E.programs <br /> Does the Budget Committee feel these programs should be City <br />sponsored, and if so, should Elk River receive equal per capita <br />funding? <br /> <br /> <br />
