Background: <br /> <br />RECEIVE BIDS AND AWARD CONTRACT FOR <br />THE 1992 STREET SEALCOATING PROJECT <br />By: Steven Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />CASE <br /> <br />The Annual S ~weet ~laintenance Program consists of two separate contracts which include crack <br />sealing followed b~, sealcoating. The crack sealing portion of the work was awarded on June 9, <br />1992 and the'~ ~ity ~ouncil authorized solicitation of bids for the sealcoating at this same meeting. <br />The project W~ advertised and bids were received from both plan holders. A summary of the bids <br />is listed bel0w:I <br /> ~ Bid <br /> <br /> ~stegh Corporation $84,060 <br /> ~,lli~d Blacktop $86,100 <br /> : '. <br /> <br /> ~Engineer's Estimate $81,600 <br /> <br />The low bidder w~s $2,460 or 3% above the estimate. The 1992 project was estimated five <br />percent above, the a~verage bid received from last year's three bidders. One factor involved with <br />this year's higl~er ~pfice is that Bituminous Roadways, Inc., the low bidder of the past two years, <br />was too b~asy,t~ b~d~ th~s year s project. You may recall that th~s year s Crack Sealing ProJect was <br />$2,610 beloW, t~e p~oject estimate.
