P2 <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Treatment of Spore Producing Trees <br /> <br />THE PURPOSE of this practice is to enhance the environment by protecting oak <br />trees adjacenl to an existing infection pocket and thereby conser~,ing aesthetic and <br />properW values, habitat, tax base, and product values. <br /> <br />APPLT this practice to (1) designated communities (counD,, ciD', or townships) that <br />have active oak'wilt disease and that have prepared a control plan, (2) private <br />ownerships over 3 acres under the super~dsion of the local DNR forester, (3) in areas <br />with a low incidence of the disease and under the supervision of the local DNR <br />Forester, or (4) where the area protected is greater than 3 acres regardless of <br />ownership. <br /> <br />POLICIES for this practice are as follows: <br /> <br />a) <br /> <br />In organized communities, a community oak wilt plan must be in place unless <br />the acreage treated or protected is large ( > 3 acres) or the communiw has <br />only a fen, oak wilt infection centers. <br /> <br />b) <br /> <br />In areas with wood disposal policies or firewood ordinances, the proposed <br />practice must be consistent with the communiu"s policies and ordinances. <br /> <br />c) Cost sharing is authorized for: <br /> <br />1) <br />2) <br /> <br />4) <br /> <br />locating and marking of Spore Producing Trees (SPT) <br />felling of SPT <br />treatment of SPT to include: <br />- loading and hauling to an approved Diseased Tree Disposal Site, <br /> including tipping fees <br />- on site treatment tv prevent sporulation (eg. chipping, burning, <br /> debarking, etc.) <br />monitoring of treatment efficacy. <br /> <br />d) Cost sharing is not authorized for: <br /> <br />treatment of trees dead more than one vear <br />su,wev work to locate infection centers <br />contacts with ianciowners to info,'Tn and educate about oak v, dlt or <br />suppression <br /> <br />chemical usc is not approved for cos~ sharing. <br /> <br /> <br />
