Mr. Galvin and Mr. Samer
determined t~h~it a, ~ore suitable flag pole should honor the veterans buried in this cemetery (our
current fl~tgp~l¢ [g~rusty and somewhat small). The Coon Rapids Legion would like to donate to
the City a flitgpol~, flag, flash collar and a bronze plaque. The only City participation required
would be my_4ssis~ance in finding a contractor to pour the footing, build the form for the plaque
and donate tl~¢!con~ete.
The following itcm~ may be worthy to note:
· The ox!sting flag pole and flag have not received any vandalism.
· The n¢4v larger pole would be a convenient location identifier for the cemetery.

· The CrOn Rapids American Legion Post #334 donated a flag pole to Staples Cemetery in
the Ci~ of ~ndover last year.

· The Anbka ~Legion was not particularly interested in this endeavor.

· Post #3~1.4 s6ates that the dollars for the donation will be from the lawful purpose gambling
fund. ~

· The ~ ~ ~ flag pole will be approximately $300. This does not include the concrete
foofing~th¢ ,~oncrete plaque stand or the plaque.
· We in~,d t9 have the flag flying on the new pole before Memorial Day, 1992.

· Tlxe pOl~ m~nufacturer is the same manufacturer of the pole installed at Central Park which
appearS~to ~ quite durable.
The following ihformafion is enclosed for your review:
· Copy O~the Estate[ flag pole brochure.
· Portion bf Pbst #334's newsletter "Coon Tales".

/jmt

I
