In Novernbcr~ i~991 iCouncilmember Richard Cich submitted his letter of resignation from the City Council off~t~vc.~anuary 14, 1992. In December 1991, the City advertised through the Anoka County UniOn and lh¢ Ramsey Resident notice of the vacancy. On January 15, 1992 City Council conducted iritervie~s of nine individuals who submitted applications to fill this vacancy. Upon completion ~f!thi~ interview process, by consensus, the City Council determined that at the meeting 0f:~al uar~- 28, 1992 the appointment of Gerald Zimmerman wilI be made to fill this vacancy whict isfpr a term expiring December 31; 1992. At the special meeting of January 15, 1992 it wa,sift Ought that due to Mr. Zimmerman s long service on the Planning and Zoning Commission;a id t[~e knowledge he can bring to the City Council from th, at service as well as ,,his work-related~k iow]edge as a staff member in the Anoka County Surveyor s Office that he can ' hit the ground r~n fin~' as much or more than any other interested candidate. It was also felt that the interview,field inc~lhded a list ot very qualified individuals who will all have an opportunity to run for an elected os~on on thc City Council in November o£ this year.
