As last year, dry grass, passing trains and roadside fires pose a continuing hazard to your Pine Plantation. The City of Ramsey Fire Warden, and City of Ramsey Fire Chief recommend that it would be prudent to construct a plowed or dozed or graded fire break inside your south property line. This should be at least 50 feet wide up to 100 feet wide cleared to bare earth. This would demonstrate an attempt to manage and lessen risk at a Iow cost. Furthermore, correct management practice for controlling fires in Pine Plantations would include trimming iow branches, clear curling interior fire breaks, removing dead trees to decrease fuel, and renewing fire breaks around existing stockpiles of dead, cut or dozed trees prior to utilization/disposal. The DNR Cambridge Office is available to detail and clarify fire risk management recommendations for Pine Plantations. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
