FIRE BOARD <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey F~ireiBoard conducted a regular meeting on Wednesday, May 20, 1992 at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Cehter, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present Councilmember Kenneth Peterson <br /> Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> Boardmember Dean Kapler <br /> Boardmember Alan Pearson <br /> Boardmember James Sharp <br /> Boardrnember Robert Simpson <br /> City Administrator Rvan Schroeder <br /> Fire Chief David Gri{fin (ex-officio) <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Councilmemb~r Eeterson called the regular meeting of the Fire Board to order at 6:03 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Consensus was to approve the agenda as presented. <br /> <br />BOARD BUSI[NESS <br /> <br />Case #1: 'Chapter 2 of the Ramsey City Code <br /> <br />City Adminislxat°r Schroeder stated that at the last Fire Board meeting, an item of discussion was <br />ho& many vo~in[imembers could be on the Fire Board and whether additional members could be <br />on the Board t.~ atr~d not vote. The Code states the Board can have up to nine voting members and <br />an unduly nur~be~ of non-voting (ex-officio) members. <br />Boardmembe~ K~'pler mentioned that this issue, came up because of the excellent applicants <br />applying for the;vacancy on the Board. Mr. Russ Peterson. one of the applicants, had a <br />tremendous amothat of exp'erience and knowledge he could offer to the Fire Depariment. <br /> <br />Cirv AdministratOr Schroeder stated that the position of the City Council has been that in order to <br />be h voting mim~er of a Board or Commission, vou must also be a Ramsey Resident. He stated <br />that since he iS not,' he could either step down as a'voting member or "ride out his term". <br /> <br />Councilmemb~r peterson commented that it would be adding one more non-Staff, non-Council and <br />non-Fire Dep~ent member and suggested the Fire Department be asked their Opinion on addine <br />another member.: <br /> <br />Fire Chief Griffila suggested that a certain amount of interest should be displayed in the Fire <br />Department even before this position is open. <br /> <br />Fire <br /> <br />Board/May 20, 1992 <br /> Page 1 of ~ <br /> <br /> <br />
