CASE #3 <br /> <br />REVIEW PRELIMINARY FISHING ENHANCEMENT <br /> PROPOSAL TO THE DNR <br /> ~ By: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Coordinator <br /> <br />BackgroUlnd: <br />This montl~ tho City intends to submit, to the State, a Shore Fishing,,E_ nhanc,e, ment proposal <br />for River's[BO~d Park. The proposal will be presented with an options format. The <br />options are[as ~611ows: 1) rip-rap erosion protection at the pier location; 2) development <br />of "flat spot" ifishing areas, (one at the confluence of the Rum and Oxbow Rivers and <br />another belwe, eh the pier and the Oxbow River); and 3) a shelter near the pier with <br />security ttg[ati~, g and drinking fountain in close proximity. (The latter option will certainly <br />receive 1°~' priority). <br /> <br />It has been md~cated that the State has a desire to see some enhancements on the Rum <br />River. If thi~ is the case, Anoka County and the City of Anoka would be the only <br />competitor~ thiit I am aware of. <br /> <br />Incidentally, the DNR's enhancement guidelines state the sites should provide a reasonable <br />opportunity to:Catch fish. I'll be sure to relay the 13 pound northern caught this fall. <br /> <br />CommissiOn: Action: <br />For inforrn~tion only.
