)MPREHENSIVE PARKS AND OPEN SPACE PLAN
UPDATE AND REVISION
By: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Coordinator

Case #4

Background:

You've been h~aring me promise for sometime that the "Comp Plan" is soon to be updated
with impro//e~ ents. Well, ifs still not done. The context in which this promise is usually
offered is i~ liq-~ng items or projects suitable for donation or volunteers. This improvement
to the Comp ] lan will be of certain value, however, in reality the plan needs more
specificity ~fi fimny areas. For instance, the plan might speak to Ramsefs outdoor quality
of life not gUr~.ly recreation issues, although recreation will remain the major focus of the
text. The ~rst proposed improvement to the Plan may be a more accurate title, say,tiThe
City o£ Rat~se 5,'s Recreation and Natural Resource Plan? In any case, at this meeting I
believe it ~dou'. ~t be helpful to compare thoughts on what's good and what's missing in our
"Comprehe~nsi m" Plan as the first stop in formulating a truly valuable planning guide.
With the Cot tmission's help, Staff will dissect and improve the Plan by bringing
component4of ;it to the Commission over the course of the next several months.
Please bring yfiur ideas and your Comp Plan.

CommissiOn :action:

Based on diScuSSion.

Reviewed by:

Park~Jl

ilities Coordinator

Copies also distributed to:
City Administrator
