GOALS WORKSHOP CITY COUNCIL CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA The Ramsey ~it~ Council conducted a goals workshop on Tuesday, July 21, 1992 at the Ramsey Municipal C. eou/~', 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. Members Pres~ntt Mayor James Gilbertson Councilmember Kenneth Peterson Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman Also Present~ Members City Administrator Ryan Schroeder Finance Officer Sandra Ashley Helling City Engineer Steven Jankowski Police Chief Michael Auspos Public Works Supervisor Merle Mevissen Parks/Utilities Coordinator Mark Boos Councilmember Sheila Beyer Councilmember Glen Hardin The workshopiW~:called to order at 7:12 p.m. COUNCIL ]BOSINESS City Admints,fi'a.t9r Schroeder stated that City Staff has had discussions regarding measuring success within!~h ~.~ departments. He disseminated copies of the 1993 goals and objectives written by Staff and' at~kdd: that Council review them. Mr. Schroeder also handed out a list of items for Council to gi{¢ '.~swers to such as what they would like the citizens to say where the City of Ramsey is wi~ r~_.d to overall image of the City. (parks, transportation, etc.). He asked for "off the top of yo~h~d" answers. Councilmemb~r P~terson stated he feels this Council has been trying to anticipate what's going to happen rather :~ha~ 'react after the fact. He stated there have been several chances to interact with the communist s~h as the bike road-co, the expos, etc. [' '. ~ A) Overallilrmge Mayor Gilbert~ nI stated he talked with Chris Soderholm of the Water Control Corporation and he mentioned he i~ hi[PpY the airport is gone. He had also stated that he had to do landscaping around his business b~l j~:~t down the street is a business with junk around it and he is curious where the City is going, i~ i!!S going to junk, then the Water Control Corporation is gone. Mayor Gilbertson stated this Ci~h~,S~:to "clean up its crap" and added that this is the "worst place to do business". He expressed qlis~ ~pointment that the City tells a business they have to landscape, etc. and then two years lateriwh ~n they haven't done it the City doesn't do anything about it. Councilmemb~r P~terson stated the City had chosen not to be aggressive as it hadn't had the leadership in the ~ast. He also stated that for years it's been said that times are tough and the business peopl~ s! t0uldn't be picked on.
