PC# [ AUTHORIZATION TO BEGIN THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS FOR AN ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN II By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager Background In December 2003 the City Council approved the City's 2004 budget. The budget included the following positions which the City has hired for or is in the process of hiring for: Patrol Officer (1 FTE)t, Building Inspector (.5 FTE), Fire Inspector (.5 FTE), Public Works Maintenance Worker (1 FTE) and Information Technology Manager (1 FTE). The City Council also approved an Engineering Teclmician II position to be created in 2004. At this time, staff is requesting authorization to begin the recruitment process for an Engineering Technician II position that may also perform public works maintenance activities during the off season. The Engineering Technician II position will be an entry-level teclmical and non professional support position that will perfmrn engineering work including drafting, land surveying, plan review, and other duties related to public service. This position will be paid for, at least in part, with billable time. Staff Recommendation Staff recommends that the City Council grant authorization to begin the recruitment process for an Engineering Technician II. Committee Action Motion to recomlnend that the City Council grant authorization to begin the recruitment process for an Engineering Tedmician II. A position that is listed as .5 FTE is a half-time (20 hours per week) position.
