PC# [ <br /> <br />AUTHORIZATION TO BEGIN THE RECRUITMENT <br />PROCESS FOR AN ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN II <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />In December 2003 the City Council approved the City's 2004 budget. The budget <br />included the following positions which the City has hired for or is in the process of hiring <br />for: Patrol Officer (1 FTE)t, Building Inspector (.5 FTE), Fire Inspector (.5 FTE), Public <br />Works Maintenance Worker (1 FTE) and Information Technology Manager (1 FTE). <br />The City Council also approved an Engineering Teclmician II position to be created in <br />2004. At this time, staff is requesting authorization to begin the recruitment process for <br />an Engineering Technician II position that may also perform public works maintenance <br />activities during the off season. <br /> <br />The Engineering Technician II position will be an entry-level teclmical and non <br />professional support position that will perfmrn engineering work including drafting, land <br />surveying, plan review, and other duties related to public service. This position will be <br />paid for, at least in part, with billable time. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council grant authorization to begin the recruitment <br />process for an Engineering Technician II. <br /> <br />Committee Action <br /> <br />Motion to recomlnend that the City Council grant authorization to begin the recruitment <br />process for an Engineering Tedmician II. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />Assistant City Administrator <br />Public Works Director <br />Principal City Engineer/Assistant Public Works Director <br /> <br />PC: 03/09/04 <br /> <br />~Full time equivalent (FTE) means that a position is a full-time (40 hour per week) position. A <br />position that is listed as .5 FTE is a half-time (20 hours per week) position. <br /> <br /> <br />
