CASE #: ~ <br /> <br />LELS CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On February 28, 2004 staff provided the City Council with an update on the status of <br />AFSCME (public works and city hall staff) and LELS (patrol) negotiations. Direction <br />was given to staff regarding salary and benefits. Staff has met with LELS union <br />representatives regarding Council direction and LELS members voted to accept the City's <br />most recent proposal (Mar. 2, 2004). Beloxv is a summary of changes that will be made <br />to the contract pending City Council approval. <br /> <br />Staff is requesting City Council approval of the following provisions: <br /> <br />Wages: <br /> <br />2004-3% plus applicable step increases <br />2005-3% plus applicable step increases <br />FTO: 2004-$1.50/hr, 2005-$2.00/hr <br />h~vestigator pay: 2004-$190/mo, 2005-$200/mo <br />Standby pay: 2005-$65.00/hr <br /> <br />Insurance: <br /> <br />Single: $313.25 <br />Family: $598 Jan-Feb 2004 <br />Family: $563 Mar-Dec 2004 <br />2005: Reopener <br /> <br />Sick Leave/ <br />Severance <br /> <br />15 yrs 2% <br />20 yrs 2% <br />25 yrs 2% <br /> <br />EMPLOYEES shall receive a lump sum payment upon termination of <br />employment with the EMPLOYER based upon thirty-ttn'ee percent <br />(33%) of said EMPLOYEE'S unused accumulated sick leave after five <br />(5) years of continuous employment. Severance pay shall not be <br />available in any sum to an EMPLOYEE if that EMPLOYEE is <br />discharged for just cause; severance pay shall not be paid if an <br />EMPLOYEE voluntarily terminates his or her employment prior to five <br />(5) years of continuous employment se~wice; or the EMPLOYEE <br />voluntarily terminates his or her employment without giving the <br />EMPLOYER fourteen (14) days written notice. <br /> <br />Duration: 2 years <br /> <br /> <br />
