CASE # <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR A HOME OCCUPATION PERMIT; <br />CASE OF JAMES cOROLEWSKI <br /> By: Sylvia Frolik, Community Development Director <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City has received an application from James Corolewski for a home occupation permit to <br />establish a gunsmithing service in his home located at 15511 Basalt St. N.W. <br /> <br />The following items are enclosed for your information: <br /> <br />a) <br />b) <br />c) <br />d) <br /> <br />Site location map <br />Proposed gunsmithing shop layout <br />Proposed findings of fact <br />Proposed home occupation permit <br /> <br />Notification: <br /> <br />In accordance with State. statute, Staff notified property owners within 350 feet of the subject <br />property of the public hearing. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />Mr. Corolewski is retiring from his full time employment this May and would like to establish a <br />part-time gunsmithing service in his home. The gunsmithing service would include cleaning, <br />repair, restoration, modifying and customizing all types of firearms. The shop is proposed to be <br />located in the lower level of the home. The' customer entrance will be secured and separated <br />from the room in which the services are performed and where guns are stored. The room in <br />which the home occupation will take place is 132 square feet (11' x 12'), which equates to about <br />7% of the gross floor area of the home. The applicant will be the sole employee. Proposed hours <br />of operation are 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to Noon on <br />Saturday, and all other hours would be by appointment only. <br /> <br />In accordance with law, Mr. Corolewski has applied for his license from the Department of <br />Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Submittal requirements for the license include evidence of <br />zoning approval from the City. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on March 11 and there was one resident <br />present at the meeting inquiring about the term of the home occupation permit. <br /> <br /> <br />
