RESOLUTION #04-03-XXX <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO REPLACE EMERGENCY WARNING SIRENS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey installed 17 warning sirens in 1988 at a cost of <br />$9,000 per siren. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the life expectancy of these sirens was placed at 10 years. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City replaced three (3) sirens in 2003, at a cost of approximately <br />$37,000 (approximately $12,300 each). <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, one (1) other siren has been replaced twice since 1988 due to <br />lightening strikes. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City has budgeted $32,000 in 2004, for the replacement of two <br />(2) sirens. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there is approximately $112,738 in the equipment replacement fund <br />for warning sirens which is the depreciable money from 11 sirens obtained in 1988. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, with the funding at current costs, the City would be able to replace <br />approximately seven (7) more sirens. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a sealed bid process will be followed for any anticipated purchases <br />over $50,000. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council authorizes the replacement of four (4) warning sirens from <br />the equipment replacement fund. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council authorizes the relocation of one unit being replaced, for <br />an improved coverage area. <br /> <br />The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by, Councilmember <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereofi <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br /> <br />
