I I I I I I I I I' I I I I i I I I I Acting Chairman Greenberg informed citizens in the audience that if they had any item they wished to discuss with the Commission, they should contact City Staff and it could be added to the Commission agenda. He also noted that the citizens will always be heard at Citizen Input of each meeting. Commissioner Donovan noted that it should be firm in the minutes that this Airport Commission is concerned with the present 8ire only. Acting Chairman Greenberg stated that the State Department Of Transportation feels that Gateway North will serve the needs of this community at it's present size. Mr. Greenberg also commented that if Ramsey loses the airport he doesn't feel there would ever be an airport between Ramsey and Elk River again. The results of this Co~ission will have long and far reaching affects. Commissioner Soderholm stated that about a year ago, in response to citizen requests, public hearings were conducted regarding the Crystal Airport and the aviation world was not invited. Interestingly enough, the people that got up to speak at the public hearing were not against the airport. They were in favor of the airport because they felt the openess of an airport was much better than looking at factories. The move to destroy the airport was put down by the citizens themselves. Mr. Schnelle stated that he hasn't received any complaints regarding air traffic. Mr. Schnelle brought up the case of Dickenson Lines and stated that Ramsey could not offer Dickenson the same situation as Princeton if Ramsey listended to the comments they have been receiving from the public for the last six months. Princeton provided an airport, sewer and water (which was not easy) and Tax Increment Financing on a payback basis over a number of years. If a city wants to see growth, there has to be a certain amount of investment. Commissioner Seibert stated that a majority of airports are community owned; they are too expensive to go private and privately owned airports do not qualify for Federal funding. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Commissioner Seibert and seconded by Commissioner Morrow to adjourn this meeting of the Ramsey Airport Commission. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Acting Chairman Greenberg, Commissioners Soderholm, Morrow, Seibert, Ippel and Donovan. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Patz.
