I I I I I I I I I August 25, 1983 FROM: I~E: Ramsey City Council ///~~ City administrator~/~~~-'/~ .... _ --. / State of Minnesota/Waste Management Board's Public Meeting on August 24, 1983~t the State Office Building to Review All Proposed Hazardous Waste Sites in the Metro Area At this public meeting, the Waste Management Board presented their findings which were contained in your agenda dated August 23, 1983 in enclosure (D2-j). It appears that Ramsey's site will be cut back considerably. In fact, if you refer to Map #5 of the above enclosure, you will note the area they have deleted and you will see the proposed area that is being recommended. It appears that what is being recommended now is probably what we will get. I did testify at the meeting and I stated that your position has not changed from your Resolution 983-21 dated March 22, 1983. The Board asked about the sanitary sewer, inasmuch as it is now available (Ramsey's first connection) and I stated that sanitary sewer would only be brought into Ramsey providing a land owner petitioned for it. He would be assessed 100% and he would be required to build the trunk according to the City's specifications. If the sewer had to pass other properties and they did not want to benefit from it, then the land owner who petitioned for sewer would have to pick up those costs until such time as the individual wanted the sewer. Then the petitioner would be reimbursed. Mrs. Erika Sitz also testified and gave a very fine response in regards to this area being designated as a hazardous waste site. In summary, I feel that Ramsey will no doubt have a hazardous waste site but it will be in the size as contained in the above enclosure. LGS:pjc
