Currently, grant funds are restricted to
parks located in an urban area and Ramsey's Central Park (which will serve
10,000 people) does not qualify for funding because it is located in a rural
area.

Motion by Commissioner Zimmerman to send a letter to Metro council Chairman
Gerald Isaacs requesting that the policy regarding grant funds for parks
be ~mendedmaking Ramsey eligible for these grants.

Commissioner Deemer seconded the motion.

Further Discussion: Mr. Schnelle stated that Ramsey should also request that
the Metro council set up funds to assist cities in the administration of
_mandated programs.

Commissioner Zjmmerman amended his motion to include Mr. Schnelle's recommendation.

Commissioner Deemer seconded the amendment to the motion.

Further Discussion: Commissioner Deemer stated that Metro Council should also
be requested to work with FHA to relax their requirements for sanitary sewer
in cities that have a Comprehensive Plan.

P & Z/September 6, 1983
