Voting No: <br />Chairman Heitman, Commissioners Sieber, Bauerkemper, Lichter, Gamec. <br />Absent: Commissioners Titterud and Buchanan. <br /> <br />Commissioner proceeded to review and amend Chapter 2, Revision 2. <br /> <br />..Chapter 2.01 <br /> <br />No change. <br /> <br />Cha~ter 2.02 <br /> <br />In the third sentence, add the phrase 'or abolish' after the words 'Council may, <br />however, establish '. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Commissioner Bauerkemper suggested phrasing be added to the effect that <br />all boards and commissions consist of no more than 9 Ramsey residents; <br />that monetary interest in Ramsey should not be a basis for serving on a <br />beard or commission, only interest in quality of life. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sieber replied that businesses are the one's responsible for <br />our quality of life and they deserve consideration because they absorb a <br />lot of the taxes. <br /> <br />Susan Beale - Stated that business owners are not restricted from attending <br />meetings or serving as an ex-officio as far as expertise. <br /> <br />Commissioner Gamec pointed out that these commissions and boards are advisory <br />only, they have no voting power. <br /> <br />Commissioner Bauerkemper stated that she has contacted 8 other cities and <br />a majority of those cities require board and commission members to be <br />residents of that city and a few of the cities make exceptions for their <br />Economic Development Commissions. <br /> <br />I <br />! <br /> <br />Commissioner Data was favorable to Commissioner Bauerkemper's suggestions. <br /> <br />Commissioner Green~rg stated that commissions act strictly in an advisory <br />capacity and there is no need to require residency. <br /> <br /> CC/O~tober 27, 1983 ?age 12 of 14 <br /> <br /> <br />
