Raatikka, City Engineer

DATE: 11/15/83

RE:

Status of Magnesium Street

At your October 25, 1983 Council Meeting, Mr. and Mrs. Gillman were present and
agreed to provide a street easement if the City would place the road on
centerline at a future date. However, the following day they called City
Attorney Goodrich and said they would not sign the easement unless the road was
reconstructed on centerline in the immediate future.

I have contacted Mr. Norm Holm and he will not relocate the road unless he is
paid for the work. This could cost anywher~rom $2,000 to $5,000 depending on
the depth of the organic material on the edge of the swamp.

Today, Mr. Goodrich and I contacted the Gillman's and they agreed they would
pay for half the cost of relocation of the road. We also tried to contact the
Hoffman's to see if they would pay the other half, but they are on a three-week
vacation.

With the snowplowing season rapidly approaching, we would recommend that the
City accept the road up to the Gillman property provided we can get a bond from
Mr. Holm to upgrade it to that point. This would allow the City to snowplow
the street up to the Gillman property.

I
